The funny side of income tax...

Trust me to procrastinate on something like this till the very last minute. Tax filing is due end of this month and I have yet to do mine. Problem is twofold cause well I literally have no time to do it and even if I did, the process is absolutely impossible.

So after a brief conversation with an old friend who's been based in Bahrain for his current project (prolly enjoying the camels and hairy men there too), we've come to the conclusion that we're screwed. Not only that, we've also figured out why we hardly hang out anymore too...namely cause we can never make heads or tails of anything when we're within a 5km proximity of one another. Too much bullshit flying through the air for anything constructive to happen there lol...

The scarily funny fact is that...wouldn't it be downright stupidly hillarious if you got fined for NOT filing your tax in time when you didn't even qualify to pay taxes? lol... then again not so funny should it actually happen. Thank god at least I'm in the country and have some sorta control over that. Good luck to Jason in Bahrain tho hahaha....e-filling my ass. Can't even download the damn software cause typically Malaysian, the server can't accommodate the hundreds of thousands of procrastinators like me :D

St Patrick's Day

~~~~
Here comes a cold
Break out the winter clothes
And find a love to call your own
You - enter you
Your cheeks a shade of pink
And the rest of you in powder blue
Who knows what will be
But I'll make you this guarantee
No way November will see our goodbye
When it comes to December it's obvious why
No one wants to be alone at Christmas time
In the dark, on the phone
You tell me the names of your brothers
And your favorite colors
I'm learning you
And when it snows again
We'll take a walk outside
And search the sky
Like children do
I'll say to you
No way November will see our goodbye
When it comes to December it's obvious why
No one wants to be alone at Christmas time
And come January we're frozen inside
Making new resolutions a hundred times
February, won't you be my valentine?
And we'll both be safe 'til St. Patrick's Day
We should take a ride tonight around the town
And look around at all the beautiful houses
Something in the way that blue lights on a black night can make you feel more
Everybody, it seems to me, just wants to be
just like you and me
No one wants to be alone at Christmas time
Come January we're frozen inside
Making new resolutions a hundred times
February, won't you be my valentine?
And if our always is all that we gave
And we someday take that away
I'll be alright if it was just 'til St. Patrick's Day
142 babeh!!
lol okie this is lame but heck after this past weekends antics between me, jw and yue trying to outdo each other's minesweeper score while waiting for the females in our midst to complete whatever it was they were up to....this totally takes the cake. Eaaaaat that all you minesweeper noobs!
On a side not this is terribly depressing that we get a kick out of outdo-ing each other on a stupid windows game. But the nerd in me says that 142 is 26 seconds faster than my previous record of 168 which equates to a total of approximately 15.5% improvement in speed and a mine per sec clearance rate of a mine per 1.43 seconds.
...
Oh shit, it's really sunk in now. I am that depressingly sad...fuck...
We always end up going back to the same place...
So after a hiatus of about a month and a half, ms lainey got the itch again and quite forcefully (in her own subtle way) managed to convince a whole bunch of us to head over to velvet. Never mind that we were supposedly going anyway. We played along...
Have to admit tho, velvet is getting a tad old. There has to be more than this to a Saturday night in kl. I swear it's just cause we're comfortable there and get better service than other places. Sigh.
Lainey insists on calling this the family pic. Is kinda sweet I suppose *shrug*. Me, Lauren a.k.a advisor to all things related to superstardom, yue @ i now have a permanent ball and chain attached to me, and lainey prior to getting wasted :) family...
Was kinda out of it that night as you can tell from the photos. Was pretty much blank the whole night while lainey went about on her all out assault on clear liquid shots. Wish I had pics of the aftermath at the drainside in fei kai lol...
How shall I articulate my current state of frustration... AARRRGGGGHHHHH!
So me and yue have been trying to organise a trip up to Koh Samui and Koh Phanggan for the full moon party in April. But lemme just say that getting to this world-reknowned island and travel location is a pain.
First of all, there are no damn direct flights there from KL except for Berjaya Air which flies only twice a week to Koh Samui and departs at 4:30 pm. Hence you effectively lose half a day and have to pay for an extra night's accommodation. Not to mention the damn return flight tickets are RM900+. Crazy!!!!
The only other airline which flies into Koh Samui is Bangkok Airways cause they own the airport and landing rights to Koh Samui. And guess what if we wanted to fly by Bangkok Airways, we would have to fly to Bangkok which is all the way up North, wait 7 hours for the transit flight to Koh Samui which is back down South from Bangkok. Silly right? In the end we end up at Koh Samui at night as well. Refer to above for problems associated with this....*mutter*. Here's the even stupider part, the cheapest flight direct to Koh Samui are from freaking Hong Kong!?!!?!?! RM200 (without airpost tax and fuel surcharge) for return tickets!?!?!? I suppose we could all chill out in Hong Kong and go for the party but come on..seriously...you think we all have so much leave from work is it?
So we decided to look at alternate routes to Koh Samui. That brought another headache. One idea was to take the overnight train from KL to the closest town to the ferry terminal servicing Koh Samui. Yes....overnight. All those high-maintenance girls aren't gonna like this. Actually to be honest I don't really wanna spend a night in a train. What a waste of time. But its significantly cheaper. Then at the town take a 3 hr bus ride or so to the ferry terminal and another 1 1/2 hour ferry ride to Koh Samui. So all in all almost 18 hours worth of travelling. That's if we manage by some miracle to get all the transits at the closest possible time to each arrival/departure. And knowing stupid third world transportation infrastructure, we're bound to be hit by delays or what not (ie cow crossing tracks, grandmother crossing tracks, train crossing grandmother and cows!). So we're pretty screwed.
All I can say is damn you shitty third world country transportation systems!!! You are fucking around with my travel and party logistics!!!
There are not many years left whereby I would be so willing and eager to go for a full out party on the beach with around 7 - 10 thousand backpacers and what not. This is depressing. I've been wanting a proper beach holiday since like god knows 2 years now. This sucks...
Karma's a bitch but it can be pretty interesting at times...
Never really did get my finger around this whole do on to others what you would others on to you thingie. Whole notion of a greater force out there ensuring polar opposites of an equation are kept in check to maintain balance. Does karma really exist or work? Well I'm not a Buddhist so my knowledge on the concept is limited at best. Then again most who know me don't even know I'm Christian let alone catholic. So I'm prolly guessing if I was a Buddhist my depth and breadth of knowledge in terms of religious matters and theological concepts wouldn't be anything to shout about. Let's just say I practice the believe and let it be at that concept. I'm definitely burning in hell...lol
Let's leave the state of purgatory aside. I'm sure I'll get to know it well enough not too many decades down the road. What got me thinking was about how we use all kinds of ways to justify our actions, to explain events. It's like some fact finding mission and guilt ridding quest. In essence it's a finger-pointing exercise. In truth most of it doesn't seem to achieve much. Beyond momentary self gratification for some and more pain for most. Yet we still fall down that path more often than not when we're put under the spotlight. Sorry state of affairs I'd have to admit.
Sometimes I wonder why people laud their recent upcomings over others who have fallen short of the finishing line. Or why revenge is so sweet yet so utterly pointless. I'm sitting here munching prawn crackers (one of the great food blessings of CNY) and just wondering bout how things haven't really changed much from a year ago. *shrug* Doesn't really bother me much but it's nice to sit back and actually calmly ponder it and see it from all new angles. I don't feel much about it all. In fact kinda find it hard to pin an emotion of it. Feel like Data from StarTrek or something. Cold robotic shell. Devoid of human emotions.
Still don't get it. Karma. You really there? Ah heck I've got bigger fish to fry in the coming months then spend more time on silly lil things like this. I've got so much more mischief to get up to before I pay a visit to mr two horns and pointy tail...
X Marks...nothin at all!
Okie so I was just browsing through some blogs and lo and behold, I found maps of good ol London from Adeline's blog! The rest is graphically depicted and elaborated accordingly...
Btw my colleague Derek has been pretty bored and has been frequenting the office a lot recently, despite not being an official EY employee again (long story...). So he's back to his old mischief with my my other colleague Kin Han. So if ya guys see weird ass msn nicks and stuff of mine during work hours, it is solely due to these 2 bums having absolutely nothing better to do. A pretty good dysfunctional Bonny and Clyde they make... *mutter*
After the dust has settled, realism sets in
Okie so after all the partying done pre and post 2007 New Year’s Day, we have to come back to reality. Work’s picking up again. The friends from London have all departed. Everyone’s getting back to the 9 to “whenever the boss feels like letting you go home” routine (thankfully so far its been 5.30+ or so for me for the past week ~ i.e. half-day in Shin Ee’s terms).
As far as New Year’s resolutions go, the smoking ban was lifted pretty much 72 hours after inception. Talk about major failure, far short of the 6 months it lasted the last time around. Maybe it’s true as I predicted that I’d only quit when I have kids or I’m at pre-cancer stage (touchwood) or when I get together with some chick like my ex who totally wants me to quit.
Now time to set some realistic goals and see them through. First on the list has definitely gotta be save more. Plastic bill skyrocketed over the past month :S. Drinks are becoming increasingly expensive in KL. A very worrying trend considering the lifestyle we all lead at the moment. Actually come to think of it, makes more sense to go out less often and not contribute so much of our hard earned *scoff* salary to velvet’s operations. That being said tables are already booked for this Saturday. *shrug*
Btw, I believe I’m turning into a tech junkie. The iPhone is like digital sex. I want…
48 hours and counting
So it's been 2 days since I put down the cancer stick. Amazingly haven't even reached for a single one since then. Prolly cause of the runny nose but then again I didn't even get an itch for it. The last time I put it down it lasted 6 months. Let's see how long this run goes for. Aiming for somewhere closer to a year this time...
Everyone has new year resolutions and stuff. I kinda didn't bother with all that. It's still all the same stuff. Just well, this time I have my priorities sorted thats all. Off to bed, it's another day at the office tomm...gnites.
Weclome 2007!
It seems as if the year went by just so fast. All the things that happened with it and not. 2006 was by far one of the most eventful years for so many reasons and I find it hard to find anyother year prior to this that taught me more about myself, my friends and the ones I cared for. It just passed by way too fast and now we're already in 2007. So here's to the new year and for a year just as good or better than the last...
NYE celebrations tho were another matter totally. Definitely beat 2006 NYE celebrations eventhough my book-a-suite and party like crazy plan with everybody got derailed by a reluctant barry. *mutter* But then again in hindsight that might have been a good thing. Here's a recap of last night.
8:00 pm  ::  Bird's open house party starts. Complete with full set of catered dishes and drinks and a truck of durian outside.
8:05 pm  ::  Shakes Bird's dad's hand and almost gets mine snapped into two. Makes mental note...don't mess with Bird's dad. lol
8:30 pm  ::  Watches as uncles and aunties attack the durian guy and cart off durian to their respective tables...totting along bottles of Cordon Bleu and red wine. Notices how everyone at our table politely refuses attempts at passing durian to our side.
9:00 pm  ::  Decides to heck it and get it over with it and calls ex to set up coffee to catch up and smooth things over once and for all. Its a new year after all right? Said ex is flying to China soon and may not get a chance to meet up. Hmm blessing in disguise?
10:15 pm ::  Group decides to meet up with the rest at Cynna @ heritage row. Am quite surprised that KL wasn't so jammed despite the hordes of mat rempits and 5 year old cyclists clogging up 2 or 3 entire lanes to themselves.
10:45 pm ::  Struggles with the anal retentive door people at Cynna who obviously don't have a clue in their heads on how to manage a door front. Everyone makes a mental note to disregard crappy place for rest of 2007. Bunch of pretentious snobs... We should have stuck with Velvet guys.
12:00 am ::  Bottles arrive and everyone barely has the chance to get a proper drink in hand before the lousiest attempt at a countdown is initiated by the prepubescant dj. We made more noise doing the china-man yam seng to the countdown. Which reminds me, apologies to the fine ladies who had to endure the brief moment of cina-ness lol. We blame the presence of Faizal our chinaman wannabe malayman. :P
12:05 am ::  Swooping in for random nye pecks. Was bitterly disappointed inside when realised there weren't any mistletoe around. *mutter*
12:45 am ::  Decides its time to go save Ms Lim from the hordes of people she barely knows. Bid adieu to Cynna and moves over to Shang room 18## a.k.a TJ's NYE/Bday Bash. Caryn immediately decides to take my head off within first sight of me for various reasons. Am sorry darling but well....honestly....as shit as Cynna was as a place. At least I knew most of the people there.
1:00 am   ::  Tired and cranky cause well, tiny suite and lots of drunk unknowns plus acrid smell of weed did not mix well with Justin under the weather. Heads back down to private room (courtesy of Suef darling).
1:30 am  ::  Me, Lim, Suef, Bird and Kong decide that staying in our room would be a better idea than at the party upstairs. End up talking crap and scrutinizing Shang's ridiculous room service prices. Opens RM16 can of sprite as mixer for the grey goose.
2:00 am  ::  Tin-chan is starving and suggests that we go for beef balls or lo shi fun. Everyone agrees. No one makes a move from their lazy butts.
3:30 am  ::  We finally get going to Jln Silang. Justin has not been there when sober. Hence driving there last night was more of a road trip. After 20 minutes we give up and head over to Jln Alor instead for the beef balls. Takes only 5 minutes for that instead.
4:00 am  ::  Justin wants to kill his passengers who are about one of the most irritating drunks in the world. But I love them dearly. Still should kill them tho.
4:30 am ::  We drop Kong off with his brother and head back to our room at Shang. I decide to call it a night and take the longest hot shower ever. As usual I get the floor and proceed to freeze my ass off the bed. Some Hugh Hefner I turned out to be. 3 girls and me on the floor and they on the combined double beds. Pffft....but heck was just them. lol
5:00 am ::  Have no idea which random guy Suef has brought into the room who wanted to take a shower? Was just getting comfortable on my floor.. ZZZzzz
10:00 am :: Rush down for breakfast. Checks out. Realises I'm down with a leaky nose. Great start to 2007...
